Something happens when life leaves its mark on us. The weight of it settles into the body, shapes the stories we tell ourselves, and quietly convinces us that we are too broken, too much, or not enough. Anxiety, depression, relational struggles, and the ache of shame are rarely the whole story they are often the echoes of experiences that were never meant to be carried alone. If you have found your way here, something in you is still hoping. Maybe you have tried to heal before and it did not quite reach the places that needed it most. Maybe you are the one everyone else leans on, and the weight of that is something you carry in private. Maybe your faith is the most real thing about you, and you have wondered whether a counselor would honor that or quietly set it aside. You are in the right place. I am Melony Kolody, a Clinical Pastoral Counselor and founder of The Healing Cottage of the CSRA. A Clinical Pastoral Counselor is someone who has refused to choose between faith and science who believes the two were never meant to be separated in the first place. I hold a Master's degree, I am a PH.D Student, and I hold many advanced certifications in complex trauma and have been trained by EMDRIA- the gold standard of EMDR training. I work with adults who are done with surface-level solutions. Drawing on EMDR, somatic processing, and attachment-based approaches, my work goes beneath the symptoms into the body, the story, the belief system where the real work of healing lives. Faith is not something I leave at the door here. It is part of how I understand people, how I hold space, and how I believe healing happens. There is nothing too broken to bring here.
